Hello! And finally, finally, finally I’m delighted to be swinging wide the doors of my website, after delaying so long that my web designer has actually BUILT A HOUSE since our initial meeting. Sorry, Evan. (He is an excellent web designer though. www.byassociationonly.com. And the patience! Oh, the patience…)
Anyway, here is it, at last, and I hope you’ll bear with me as I start filling it up with all manner of chat, and photos, and recipes and dog-related things. Please do send me photos of your dogs for Dog of the Month, email me with questions or suggestions for posts, and generally get in touch! I love getting mail, virtual or otherwise.
I thought it might be fun to launch the new site, and the new book, in one synchronistic move by giving away some copies of One Small Act of Kindness, which is published on Thursday. There are other ways to get your hands on a copy, most notably by telling Hodder about an act of kindness you’ve seen yourself, at www.onesmallactofkindness.co.uk – where you can win not only a book, but also a spa day!! Go on, go over there NOW and enter the competition – but in the meantime, leave a comment in the box below, with your favourite Longhampton resident, and I will hand over the selecting of three random winners to Violet. She will pick a winner on Saturday afternoon, the exact time to depend on her schedule.
(seriously, she is very judgy for a dog. This is right up her street. She loves judging things, and by things I mainly mean ‘Bonham’.)
Happy new website!
(I don’t have a favourite resident because I don’t know who they all are. )
My favorite character so far would be Anna (The Secret of Happy ever after). I just admire her, she loves books as I do and she is such a kind hearted woman taking in Phils children and the dog and all, I just really really like her ๐ x
Love the new website Lucy! Can our favourite resident be one of the dogs? I am voting for Buzz because in rescuing him Gina also rescued herself…and because Buzz reminds me of our dog Layla who is a greyhound cross…picture to follow! xx
This is tough to pick one but I’m going with Juliet. I enjoyed her story very much and would like to live in Longhampton with all of these great characters ๐
Hello,
Glad to have found your website. I live in Sweden but I read your books in English and in Swedish. My favourite Longhampton resident is Rachel Fielding, because of her ability to change for the better.
Gina is my favorite Longhampton resident because she has a greyhound! I’ve been doing greyhound rescue for over 10 years–love them all! The great trust they place in us. And who can resist those pointy noses and soulful eyes?
Gem and Rachel from Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts. Such a lovely relationship.
Anna the book person is my favourite because I’d love to run a bookshop. Plus, of course, all the dogs.
Hi Lucy
Lovely website! I am new to your books so I cannot yet pick a favourite character but they all sound wonderful and I plan to take one along on holiday with me next month. x
My favourite resident is Bertie the Basset hound makes me laugh with his antics – on the human front it would be Anna as she’s living my dream having a bookshop
My favorite has to be Michelle (The Secret of Happy Ever After ) as I love the way the hard headed business woman heart softens throughout the book . It was the first book of yours I ever read and as soon I entered Longhampton I didnt want to leave.
My favourite has to be Rachel from Lost dogs and lonely hearts, loved her x
Hi Lucy, love the webpage and is very much looking forward to One small act of kindness! I like each of your characters and their stories a lot but if I had to pick a favorite it would be Gem. I’ve got an Australian shepherd myself but I recognize the personality. Such a sweetheart <3
Gem-the friend who guides you to being a better, kinder human.
Oh! Such a difficult choice! Can I pick one human and one dog? Rachel from Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts, because her story totally transported me to Longhampton and all of its interesting residents, and Buzz, the greyhound. I had a rescued Greythound named Rocket, so I was especially touched by Buzz’s story.

George and Rachel from Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts ๐
The new website is amazing! ๐
Hi Lucy-has Vi picked the winners? (Fingers still crossed) ๐
I love the way your characters feel very real and I thoroughly enjoy delving into Longhampton. I have now read all your books. They have given me distraction during a very difficult time in my own life. I think Gina is my favourite character, closely followed by Juliet.
I am wondering whether Lorcan is married to Juliet in One Small Act of Kindness as it mentions Lorcan’s girlfriend at one point and then his wife at another. However I don’t want to spoil anything for people who haven’t yet read the book!
I love how you bring your characters and their emotions to life. Thank you!
I just finished reading Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts. I loved the book and characters… human and canine. Are you considering writing a sequel to the book? I want to know how Rachel and George get on and about their baby. Whether or not Natalie and her hubby can ever have a baby and what becomes of Bill and Zoe? Needless to say that Megan needs to branch out and fall in love. Hope you do write a sequel. It would be great!!
